Only the 'Best' for $600,000 First-Crop City of Light Colt

Hip 129, a colt from the first crop of City of Light, sold for $600,000 at The November Sale. The bay weanling was purchased by Larry Best's OXO Equine LLC from the consignment of Hunter Valley Farm, agent.

A son of Quality Road, City of Light won Grade 1 stakes at 7, 8, and 9 furlongs, including the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1), Pegasus World Cup Invitational S. (G1), Triple Bend S. (G1), and Malibu S.(G1), and earned $5,662,600. His first foals are weanlings this year.

This colt is out of the winning Into Mischief mare Breaking Beauty. That mare is out of German Oaks (G2) and German One Thousand Guineas (G2) winner Que Belle, who was also a stakes winner in the United States and Group 1 placed in France. Que Belle produced graded stakes winner Osidy and group stakes winner Quetsche. The immediate family includes European champion Bakharoff.

Hip 129 was bred in Kentucky by Camas Park Stud.
