Spendthrift Goes to $2,750,000 for MG1W Got Stormy
Two-time Grade 1 winner Got Stormy (Hip 168) sold for $2,750,000 at The November Sale. The track-record setting multimillionaire was purchased by Spendthrift Farm from the consignment of Bluewater Sales, agent.
Got Stormy won eight stakes in her career, highlighted by a historic performance in last year's Fourstardave H. (G1) at Saratoga. She was the first female ever to win that race, and did so in exceptional style, setting a track record of 1:32.00 for a mile on the turf. Got Stormy also claimed victories in the Matriarch S. (G1), Ontario Colleen S. (G3), Kentucky Downs Ladies Sprint S. (G3), and Buffalo Trace Franklin County S. (G3), as well as four additional blacktype stakes at three and four.
Got Stormy has won 10 of 26 starts, with five seconds and third thirds, and earned $2,021,378. She was campaigned by owner Gary Barber and trainer Mark Casse.
By multiple Grade 1 winner Get Stormy, Got Stormy is out of the Malabar Gold mare Super Phoebe, who has produced five winners to date. Super Phoebe is a half-sister to multiple Grade 2 winning millionaire Smooth Air and Grade 2 winning juvenile Overdriven. The immediate family includes Grade 1 winner New Year's Day and Grade 2 winners Justwhistledixie and Mohaymen, among others.
