Outwork Filly Sells for New York Bred Sale Record $500,000
Hip 495, a filly from the first crop of Outwork, sold for $500,000 during the second session of the New York Bred Yearlings sale. The bay filly was purchased by All About the Girls Racing, JCE Racing, and Travis Durr from the consignment of Denali Stud, agent. The price is a record for a filly sold at this sale, eclipsing the previous record setting last year when a daughter of American Pharoah sold for $450,000.
Outwork, winner of the Wood Memorial S. (G1) at three, is from the talented first crop of Eclipse Champion and Leading Freshman Sire Uncle Mo. Hip 495 is the third foal out of the unraced Tiznow mare Light and Variable, making her a half-sister to English stakes winner Bye Bye Hong Kong and impressive two-year-old winner Our Country, who broke his maiden by 5 ¾ lengths at Saratoga on August 3.
Light and Variable is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Nonna Mela and graded stakes placed Nonna Madeline, all out of a full sister to Grade 1 winner, millionaire, and successful sire Bluegrass Cat. The immediate family also includes champion Rhythm, Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Super Saver, and other Grade 1 winners Girolamo, Imagining, and Got Lucky.
Hip 495 was bred in New York by WinStar Farm LLC.
