Colts by Constitution, Vekoma Top First Session of NY Bred Yearlings
The 2024 Fasig-Tipton New York Bred Yearlings sale opened Sunday with the first session offerings averaging greater than $100,000 and a decrease in RNA rate.
A pair of colts tied at the top for top price of the session:

A Constitution colt (Hip 315), sold for $300,000 to West Bloodstock, agent for Repole Stable, from the consignment of ELiTE, agent (video). The dark bay or brown colt is out of the winning Forestry mare See the Forest, already dam of seven winners from as many starters, including stakes winners Whittington Park (Midnight Lute), Critical Value (Bodemeister), and Looms Boldly (Goldencents). Hip 315 was bred by Ten Strike Racing.

A Vekoma colt (Hip 386), sold for $300,000 to C. Clement, agent, from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent (video). The chestnut colt from the second crop of his sire is out of the Shackleford mare Alana’s Allure, whose first foal to race is multiple stakes winner Allure of Money (Central Banker). Hip 386 was bred by Cheryl Prudhomme & Dr. Michael Gallivan.

A Not This Time colt (Hip 328) sold for $250,000 to DJ Stable from the consignment of Eaton Sales, agent for Longford Farm. The dark bay or brown colt is out of the graded stakes placed street sense mare Smoke Signals and is a half-sibling to three winners to date, including multiple stakes placed winner Smokie Eyes (Nyquist). Hip 328 was bred by Kathleen Schweizer & Daniel Burke.

A Gun Runner colt (Hip 337) sold for $250,000 to Gatsas Stable from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent. The bay colt is out of the stakes placed Medaglia d’Oro mare Sunny Dale, from the immediate family of Grade/Group 1 winners High Yield, Forest Flower, and Medina Spirit.

A Maclean’s Music filly (Hip 373) sold for $230,000 to RT Racing from the consignment of Denali Stud, agent. The bay filly is out of the multiple stakes placed Warrior’s Reward mare Warrior’s Promise, from the immediate family of influential sire Distorted Humor.
During Sunday’s session, 66 yearlings sold for $6,860,000 up 14% from 2023’s first session, when 53 yearlings sold for $5,999,000. The session average was $103,939 and the median was $89,000. The RNA rate fell to 24%.
